How to buy a mileage bolt-on on our website

You can either buy additional miles when you’re joining Onto or when you’re already a customer.

When you’re joining Onto

You can choose to add a mileage bolt-on when you’re first signing up to Onto. 

When you get to the ‘Optional extras’ section of the sign-up process, just select the amount of miles you want and they will be added to your account straight away. The bolt-on will be added every month, unless you choose to remove or change it.

When you’re an existing customer

1. Go to My Account on our website.
2. Click the ‘Additional Mileage’ option, as shown below.
   
3. Choose the number of miles you want to buy and click the ‘Add package’ button. The price will differ depending on the tier level of your car. If you want to automatically add this mileage bolt-on every month, simply tick the box underneath.
4. As soon as you’ve added the bolt-on, the additional mileage will be available to use.
5. You will be charged for the bolt-on in your next monthly payment.

How to buy a mileage bolt-on in our app

1. Open the app.
2. Click the menu button, then ‘Bolt-ons’.
3. Choose the number of miles you want to buy. The price will differ depending on the tier level of your car.
4. If you’re happy with the amount you’ve selected, press the ‘Confirm’ button. And if you want to automatically add this mileage bolt-on every month, simply swipe the option to the right.
5. As soon as you see the pop-up below, the additional mileage will be available to use.
   
6. You will be charged for the bolt-on in your next monthly payment.

How much do mileage bolt-ons cost?

Mileage bolt-on prices depend on the tier of your car. Simply take a look at the table below to see how much you’ll pay.

What if you don’t use all your bolt-on mileage?

• At the end of each month, we turn any unused miles into mileage credit and add this to your account. 
• The credit will be available to use for the next 12 months, even if you cancel your subscription then sign up again.
• You can only use the credit for your current car and cars from the same tier.
• The credit can’t be transferred if you swap to a car from a different tier.

What if you go over your bolt-on mileage?

If you go over your mileage for the month and don’t have any credits available from previous months, you’ll have to pay an excess fee. 

For every extra mile you drive, you’ll be charged:

Tier 1 cars - 40p per mile
Tier 2 cars - 50p per mile
Tier 3 cars - 75p per mile
Tier 4 cars - £1 per mile

How many bolt-ons can you add per month?

You can now buy more than one Mileage bolt-on per month! All you have to do is complete this form, and we’ll take care of the rest.  Please note, you are limited to adding a maximum of 1,000 miles per month, in addition to your base monthly mileage allocation. Past this limit, you will be charged per mile (overage). Bolt-ons are non-refundable.

Please note: If you have reached your mileage limit, including the standard 750 miles plus optional bolt-ons up to an additional 1,000 miles, any extra miles driven could result in your hire agreement being cancelled.
